Today is the first day
where we have moved furniture and opened up different learning spaces in the
classroom and our kids have been so ready for it. They are showing a sense of
ownership and empowerment by having choices open to them and are all so engaged
and see their Ipad as as tools.
We re moving into now
showing peers in other year levels our DB Primary trial. I am loving the feel
in our classes and the independence, ownership and creativity I am seeing in
our students. They are learning to be responsible for choices in their learning
and on occasions they are leading the teachers and others with new ideas.
I think that my ongoing
reflection will be in the form of Twitter and monitoring my responses to blogs
and articles that I read. It will be all about ‘How can I improve my practice?’
I want to continue to discover ways to engage kids in learning and to discover
ways technology can do this.
I feel my summary
from my Arp says all about what I have learned about myself : “I am now
a leader
I lead from in the pack
I lead by doing
I am approachable
I share good
ideas
I communicate consistently
I can share a vision
I have the confidence to
take my time to share my ideas as people will follow my enthusiasm. I can
spread the seeds of change in my community.”
I do feel like an important, valued member
of the team now with something to give others. This course has played a large
part in that.
It's so great to hear you talking like this about your own leadership story Bec. You're ARP was outstanding and demonstrated such a clear understanding of what true leadership really is. It is a credit to you. I really enjoyed reading the summary of your leadership in the ARP the first time around. Loved reading it here again now. Being a leader is so much more than having the title.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great reflection and I've enjoyed coming along for the ride with you.
I agree with Matt Bec - fantastic to hear you talking about your own leadership like this!As you know, we think your ARP was brilliant (I am in the process of de-identifying it and, once done, I'll get your approval before we ever use it as an exemplar :).
ReplyDeleteWhat am I most excited about here?! That you feel re-energised; that you've begun to shift what's happening in your classroom, including the physical environment; that you've got a school team that feels cohesive and with direction...and that YOU feel important, valued and significant.
Wow. I couldn't ask any more than that...you've made my day.
Thanks Nikki and Matt. Enjoying doing NOTHING but my son's 13th birthday this weekend!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNow that's fun! I had my son's back in February and they all slept on the trampoline outside! Joy :)
